This is an older song that was written around the same time as sleeping dogs. For one reason or another we just weren't drawn to it at the time we were working on songs for Till We Have Faces. The title of this track actually comes from a bridge type part that got taken out when we revisited and reworked this song. The demo was way longer.
lyrics
if the message of our fathers is love
then that message remains lost upon their sons
i've been trapped inside my head receiving messages from the dead
drawing lines into the sand to separate myself from all that i can
we took a week to separate ourselves
to clear a space for all the shelves with nothing on them
cause when this is over there will be sides
and i hope to God, i hope to God that you choose mine
if my feathers fail me
don't try to elevate me
cause my place is here upon the ground
